Depending on the current state of your bathroom, this might be one of the most difficult rooms to pack. Our guide on Packing a Bathroom when moving house in Hilton Derbyshire will help make this an easy task. You don’t want to just throw things in boxes because many bathroom items can easily leak, which will ruin everything in the box before you reach your destination. Take a logical method of packing your bathroom and start with the things you use least often. Make sure that you have plenty of plastic bags, and everything else will be easy
If you’re like most of us, you’ll have some pill bottles or medicines that have been forgotten, so you’ll need to carefully go through these items one by one to determine if they should be kept or disposed of. Remember, that medicine should not be kept if:
It’s past its expiry date.
The label cannot be read.
There isn’t a label at all.
The color, appearance, smell or consistency has changed.
The medicine causes side effects that didn’t occur before.
The medicine doesn’t seem to work.
The treatment was discontinued or not completed.
If you need to dispose of medicines, do not flush it down the toilet or empty the contents into the drain. Medicines cause environmental damage and contamination as chemical treatments do not completely remove the contents. To properly dispose of medicines, take them to your local pharmacy.
I don’t know about you, but my bathroom cabinets are filled with bottles, jars and canisters of things that we rarely use, but which we don’t dispose of because we might need them in the future. If this is the case with your bathroom, start packing with the back of your cabinets, including under the sink. Use heavy-duty plastic Ziploc baggies that can be sealed when they are full, and don’t over-pack the baggies so that they run the risk of opening during the move.
Use small boxes to pack the contents of your cabinets.
Always pack toiletries separate from medicines.
Glass jars should be packed upright and wrapped in bubble wrap.
Toiletry items should be packed separate from medicines and stored in plastic bags that won’t leak.
Glass jars or bottles should be well cushioned and packed using packing popcorn or bubble wrap.
You can use towels and mats to line the inside of the boxes.
To ensure the small boxes aren’t lost in the move, place the small boxes into medium or large box .
Mark each box appropriately.
If you’re moving to another city or area, you’ll probably be staying overnight in a hotel or at a relative’s house before you move in to your new home. Before you throw the entire contents of your bathroom into boxes, pull out a travel bag and load it up with necessary toiletries.
Things to include in your overnight bag:
Having these essential items at hand will be a great help if you are unable to unpack everything on the day of your move.
