Personal Independence Payments (PIP)

Personal Independence Payments (PIP) will soon be replacing Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for any one with a long term illness or disability, between the ages of 16 to 64 years. PPI is aimed to help with the cost of living with a long term illness or disability. The rates are calculated upon how your condition affects you and your daily life.

Carer’s Allowance

If you are caring for someone with an illness or disability for more than 35 hours a week you could be entitled to receive carer’s allowance. Carer’s allowance is currently at £59.75 a week, however it may affect other benefits you claim. You do not need to be related or living with the person you care for.

The Terminally Ill

If you are suffering from a terminal illness you are entitled to extra help and support. There are special fast tracking rules which will apply to your PPI and other benefit claims helping you to receive the financial support you need as quickly as possible. Your local authority will also be able to put you in touch with a wide rannge of help and support groups available in your area.

Relocation Grant

If you have applied for a disabled facilities grant to adapt to your current home, and your local social services have decided that your home is not suitable  for adaptation, then your local council may offer you a relocation grant to help towards the cost of Moving home with an illness or disability.
