Packing Your Bedroom

Since we keep most of our personal belongings in the bedroom it can be a frustrating room to pack. However if you take enough time and care when packing your bedroom you can have a less stressful time.

Start by packing the clothes you don’t often wear. Perhaps pack your summer clothes if it is winter and vice versa. Remember to leave enough clothes to wear until your moving day. Also leave any work clothes etc you may need

  • Any formal clothing such as dresses and suits should be packed in wardrobe boxes.
  • If you have suitcases you can pack clothing in them.
  • For all other clothing large boxes or bags can be used.

Start by placing matching pairs of shoes into plastic bags. You can then pack shoes into large boxes. Any high-heeled or expensive shoes should be kept in their original boxes when possible. They should then be packed into large removal boxes.

The last thing you want is to be left with a load of un paired  earrings, knotted necklaces and broken clasps. Following our advice will help protect your jewelry during your house removal.

  • Small clear, zip-close plastic bags are ideal for separating pieces of Jewelry you can then put them into a larger bag.
  • Use safety pins to poke holes into pieces of card and stick your earrings through them. You can then wrap the card in bubble wrap or place them into the small plastics bags to keep them from snagging on anything else.
  • To prevent chains from tangling up slip them through a drinking straw and close the clasp. Straws can be cut down to size if required.

All beds and bedroom furniture should be taken down and fully dismantled. All pieces should then be wrapped individually in bubble or foam wrap. This will protect against scratching and chipping during loading and transit. Ensure all bolts and screws are kept in a safe place. A good idea is to place them in small plastic bags and tape them to the corresponding item, this will save a lot of time when it comes to re assembling the items.

Hairdryers, Straighteners and curling tongs should ideally be packed in their original boxes and bags, if you do not have the original boxes wrap each item in a towel before placing into boxes. T.V s , DVD players and other electricals should always be allowed time to cool down before wrapping them in bubble wrap and placing in correct size boxes.
